Fliteboard session #28. Lots of carved turns on smooth water up to Walkerville South staying out of the wind. I passed Greg on his wing foil.

This is an online blog journal of all my kitesurfing activities. I blog and log every kitesurfing session and provide information on skills progression, gear, weather and locations. I am based in Melbourne, Australia where we are blessed with good winds and some wonderful kitesurfing. I also take kitecam photos and video. I also record many sessions with a GPS.

Motorcycle tour through North East Victoria and South Gippsland with great roads, lots of twisties and not much traffic.
Mostly on quiet roads. Coffee and pitstop in Mansfield.
Endless curves, watch out for bark on road and damp corners in forest areas.
Mitta Mitta for coffee and Omeo for lunch.
Very scenic back road route, good for motorbikes, no freeway.
Ripping session on the Fliteboard riding some swell that was wrapping around Bird Rock down past Walkerville North. Not riding unpowered (yet) but definitely feeling the power of the waves.
Sandy Point delivered again!
First session
Second session
I took this video of the crew kitesurfing the reef break at Flinders on Sat 18 December. I have tennis elbow so was unable to kite this time.
Flinders is a great place to kitesurf when the wind gets in there but its for experienced kitesurfers only. It is a long swim back to the beach if you tangle your kite or have an equipment failure.
Session 6. Best Fliteboard session so far!
Flat water and very little wind made it very cruisy. I launched at Walkerville North and cruised up into Walkerville South and out to Bird Rock.
I was cruising most of the time on power setting 6 and was able to stay on the foil. Lots of carved turns and no crashes.
This was definitely a magic carpet ride.
Getting back to shore at Walkerville North is tricky - there is a very narrow corridor of sand near the ramp to beach. I bumped into some reef with the foil - next time I will invert it when coming in.
Session 6. Launched off the beach next to the harbour breakwater pier. There were some good swells rolling through. Up on the foil going into the wind (northerly) then touching down when going down wind.
There was some surface chop that made planing a bit tricky.
Getting the hang of this.
Great session, but a bit chilly.
Session 518. Nice session in the surf at Waratah Bay with three windsurfers. The easterly was a bit gusty on the beach but nice and consistent on the water. There were some good waves to surf.
A downwinder to Walkerville North would have been on but a car shuffle would be needed.
The waves at the beach close to Waratah Bay township are more regular and predictable than those at Sandy Point.
Very happy to get this session in before thunderstorms and 100mm of rain arrived over the following 2 days.
