Kitesurfing Undine Cay, more sun and good wind #555

Session 555. Travelled back to Undine Cay from the Cape Tribulation beach and setup the beach shelter again. Everyone was well covered by sunscreen and clothing. My 0.5mm tropical dive suit provides good protection from the sun but any exposed skin must be covered with sun cream 3 times a day.

A helicopter from Port Douglas was on the Cay when we arrived, an expensive flight at $900 per person. We had a chat to the pilot. The chopper departed after 30 minutes and we had the Cay to ourselves again.

The kitesurfing was superb again. Good wind and well powered on my 12m Airush Union kite. I was glad I had the 12m as it was the only kite I used for the trip.

Another solid day of kitesurfing with good wind, including a kitesurfing armada tour out to the reef edge.  I rigged up a kitecam (after my mount failed) to get some aerial video from the kite.

We got a lot more sun today - exposed skin got burnt despite sun cream. Being well covered was the best solution.

To finish the day I did a fast downwinder back to Cape Tribulation close to the RIB which as a blast. 

The meals and accommodation at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge were again excellent.

FNQ kitesurfing - 4 Mile Beach session #551

Session 551. Back in Far North Queensland at last!  Good flight up with Virgin to Cairns then a coach to Port Douglas. Met up with Rob, James and Brett for lunch at a cafe then had a some nice kitesurfing along 4 mile beach in good wind and some surf.

My new Airush Union 12m kites was great - easy to go up wind and plenty of power in less dense tropical wind/

A great session was had by all on the first day of our kitesurfing adventure trip with Brett and Vanessa from Windswell. 

There was good wind forecast for our next days off Low Isles, Undine Cay and the Daintree coast.

Session 548. Strong wind and a huge surf - Sandy Point once again confirmed as one of the best kitesurfing locations in Victoria.

The waves were so big I didn't make it out the back.  It was difficult to get a good shoulder in the middle of the waves but perseverance paid off.

Session 543. Nice session at Sandy Point, I was the only kite out.  The wind was solid and the small waves were nice.

Nice steady wind so I did a downwind tour at to the shipping channel, enjoying solitude out on the bay. 

Returned to the Sandringham breakwater and the surfed the rolling swell back to the beach.

Kitesurfing Flinders to Point Leo and return #538

 Another excellent session and tour from Flinders.  We headed out to the reef break first and rode some waves in variable swell then headed on a long tour coming in at Zappas then the Pines to surf the reef brakes there. 

We continued on to the Point Leo main beach and scored some flat water behind the main reef

I made it back on a single tack - the wind direction and strength was perfect.

I came in ahead of the others to avoid stressing my right arm too much. I am getting some numbness in the fingers and hand at times, including while typing!  

So good to do a tour again.

We are eyeing off a kitesurfing trip across the channel to Phillip Island but its a serious undertaking - boat support would be a good idea.
