This is an online blog journal of all my kitesurfing activities. I blog and log every kitesurfing session and provide information on skills progression, gear, weather and locations. I am based in Melbourne, Australia where we are blessed with good winds and some wonderful kitesurfing. I also take kitecam photos and video. I also record many sessions with a GPS.

Session 573 & 574 at Parry Beach.
We drove to Ocean Beach first. The entrance to Wilson Inlet was flowing out fast and the wind was not getting into the launch zone. Mike and Leigh kited there yesterday and said the launch was sketchy.
We then visited Hillier Beach - a lovely beach with a dramatic backdrop but there is a lot of reef in the shallows and the wind direction was not good.
We headed for Parry Beach again where the wind was good. We drove further along the beach to start kitesurfing. The full crew were on the water so it was busy at times.
The bigger surf made it challenging to get out the back. I went downwind while trying to get through the big waves. I eventually to out the back and tacked all the way back over deep blue water. There were many dark shadows beneath me but they were reef and rocks (not moving!)
There was a cross chop on the swell which made it difficult to get back upwind at times.
Riding in the big waves was scary and fun. There was good wind again, I was well powered on my Union 8.
Gary was enjoying the strong wind and boosting well.
Session 573. In the surf.
After lunch I headed out again but was having some difficulty staying upwind. My kite was a bit soft, I should have pumped it up! I headed downwind and got the Western end of the beach then did some runs in the flat water between waves.
The kite eventually lost more air and stared jelly fishing so I landed and packed up for the day.
Session 574. Downwinder

Two excellent kitesurfing sessions today at Parry Beach. There is ramp down to the beach and its allowed to drive on the beach. We headed along to near the inlet mouth, parked on the beach and setup for kiting in a good wind.

First session #571.
Second session #572.
Session 567. Cool conditions but nice sunshine. I was just powered on my 8m kite and enjoying the small bay waves with a nice run down towards Frankston then some tacks to get back.
The wind got stronger until my kite was fully depowered. I was a bit rusty - a few big stacks and missed quite a few gybes, but a great session.
Pulled the safety to self land on the narrow beach. Quite a few people walking on the beach with dogs.
Session 547. A good northerly at Seaford made for some good kitesurfing. Mike and I got on the water just after 11am.
The wind was around 20 knots so I used my Union 8m kite. It's been a while since I kited so I took it easy.
There was small but enjoyable bay surf in the Winter sun. Nice to crank out some turns.
The wind dropped for a bit then came back in with gusto.
James, Stu S and Stu W rolled up and joined us on the water.
I was glad I was wearing booties to keep my feet warm.
We had a good coffee at the Beach Cafe Seaford near the pier.
Another excellent session and tour from Flinders. We headed out to the reef break first and rode some waves in variable swell then headed on a long tour coming in at Zappas then the Pines to surf the reef brakes there.
We continued on to the Point Leo main beach and scored some flat water behind the main reef
I made it back on a single tack - the wind direction and strength was perfect.
I came in ahead of the others to avoid stressing my right arm too much. I am getting some numbness in the fingers and hand at times, including while typing!
So good to do a tour again.
We are eyeing off a kitesurfing trip across the channel to Phillip Island but its a serious undertaking - boat support would be a good idea.
Session 528. On our way home we drove past 13th beach, there was some wind there but not quite enough to kite. When we got to RAAFS beach at Ocean Grove the wind was stronger so we scored a great session kiting across the Barwon River mouth to some good waves off Barwon Bluff.
The best wave I caught was close to the bluff but I forgot about my kite and crashed it. I wasn't looking forward to swimming in onto the rocky shoreline but thankfully I was able to relaunch it.
This was a great session and a perfect way to cap off another cracking kitesurfing long weekend.
