Kitesurfing Shoreham to Flinders in a good easterly - superb!

Session 499.  On the water at Shoreham at 8:30 with a nice easterly. Kitesurfed the small swell at Little Noosa break just off Shoreham then headed south along the coast. The best swell was coming into the The Farm break with some good sets rolling into the beach.

Lots of reef around though, I hit one when turning and the board sank into the water.  I continued up towards the Flinders Pier for a look then headed back enjoying the large swells.

If you haven't kited in this area before take it easy and have a good look around for the first time until you suss out the reefs and bombies.

A great time was had by Stu S, Stu W, James and myself.  Ear to ear grins at the finish after a superb session. We stopped for a good coffee at the Merrricks General Store on the way home.

Late sea breeze at Hampton filled in nicely

Session 497. Got down to Hampton late in the afternoon with a SSE sea breeze, on the water with my Union 10 and Wainman Passport board I was a bit under powered.  After a couple of tacks I was considering coming in but the wind was building up to a nice 20 knots so I was nicely powered for the second half of the session.

The Wainman Passport is lighter than the Nugget and turns well.  I am going to use it more.

Kitesurfing Brighton and Green Point with some good bay surf

Session 460.  A good 20 knot wind in the afternoon; the lads did a downwinder from Ricketts to Brighton.  I was tired and had a nap after some hard mountain biking in the morning so I missed it. I got down to Brighton later in the afternoon kited easily upwind to Green Point to catch some waves, then followed the reefs back down to Brighton.  The guys came past finishing the downwinder, lucky chaps!

Session 459. It seemed like a good sea breeze at Ricketts Point but it conked out, I made it back to shore on the Wainman Passport and walked back to the yacht club beach.   I borrowed Stu's Lithium 12 which had more power for a short second outing.

I have to re-splice the damaged lines on my Ocean Rodeo 14.5 Flite, until then its out of action.

My car was recently ransacked outside my home in Surrey Hills and some lowlife stole my kite gear bag and yellow kite camera case. I am replacing the equipment lost. Be careful about leaving gear in your car between sessions . . .

Kitesurfing my first seabreeze of 2018 at Hampton

Session 458.  The sea breeze is here!  A nice 30 minute kitesurfing session in a good breeze.  I took out my Wainman Passport board - its lighter than the Nugget and turns well on the swell, but it doesn't go upwind quite as well.  It will be great for bigger surf and waves when there is good wind.

Summer is coming with warmer conditions and some good sea breezes, bring it on!

Struggling for wind at Hampton

Session 397.  There wasn't much wind when I headed out on my Ocean Rodeo 14.5 and the Wainman Passport board.  I did one run out but on the way back I couldn't stay upwind so I came in at Brighton.  Anthony had watched me head out (as the wind test dummy) and drove down to pick me up which saved me the walk back to Hampton.

The Wainman Passport feels nice but I could't really put it through its paces.

Massive waves but not much wind at Ocean Grove for kitesurfing

Session 392.  Stonker is only shop in Torquay that sells kitesurfing gear so I headed there in the morning to check out a new board. They were one of the first manufactures of kiteboards but don't make them now.  Alex showed me a very nice Wainman Passport 5.8 with quad fins, fairly wide with a swallow tail.  It looked like a nice board for bigger waves so I bought it.

 

Later that afternoon Stuart and I headed for the Ocean Grove beach near the caravan park.  There was not quite enough wind.  Stuart got out the back once through massive surf but tracked downwind on his return.  I got going but only for a short distance then we tossed it in.

I was happy not to push my luck after yesterday's epic.
